Did you leave enough time? Don’t Wait To Book Your Boudoir Photo Shoot

Time flies by so fast in our busy lives we often find ourselves doing things last minute. In our world of next day delivery and overnight shipping, it’s easy to forget not all things happen overnight. I get a lot of phone calls, emails and messages from women like you looking to give boudoir photos as gifts for the holidays, wedding Groom’s Gifts and for other special occasions. Creating unique, personalized experiences that culminate with an amazing gift you can give is a ton of fun. When it’s a boudoir photo session you’re looking for and you’ve worked up the nerve to call and book your shoot, the worst thing that can happen is to hear you waited too late and there isn’t enough time to make it happen.

How can you be certain you’re not going to be too late to book your boudoir photo shoot?

In a perfect world, you’d start contacting photographers about 3 months before you need your finished photos delivered. Yes I know that sounds like forever and that this is definitely not a perfect world. We are all busy with our daily lives and if we’re lucky enough to have time to start thinking about the holidays early or gift giving in general, it’s normally just hazy ideas in the back of our heads that we usually forget to write down, never mind getting any further. The thing to keep in mind is there are other women out there planning their sessions and they have already called and booked their dates. Professional photographers like every other business, book in advance and also need time to create, order and prepare your photos. You also want time to find a photographer you’re comfortable with who can work with your schedule. There are a lot of photographers out there but finding the right one for you who is available may not happen on the first call or email.

Try to give yourself at least 6 weeks.

Your actual photo shoot should be at least 6 weeks before you need your pictures. Yes, I said 6 weeks! There is a lot of work still to be done when you leave the studio after your shoot is completed. The photographer needs time to edit your photos, set an appointment to show you the final photos so you can pick the ones you love and get your product ordered and delivered. No one wants to stress about not getting their gift in time. If you’re considering a photo session, give yourself time to prepare without stress and really enjoy the experience.

A full day of fun!

Your session with me is a daylong event that we start planning the minute you book your date. The day of your session begins at 9:00 am and includes a full day of pampering and fun. When you come in, we go over what clothes you brought so we can plan out your day. You have beverages and snacks available and you move right into hair and makeup. While you’re in hair and makeup, I’m preparing the sets and lighting based on the outfits you brought and putting final touches on the plan for your day. Your hair and makeup are done by our professionals here at the studio. When you’re finished being pampered it’s time to change into your first outfit and we begin. You’re coached through the posing so you can relax and let me guide you through the shots. Getting to change outfits multiple times and use different sets is like playing supermodel for the day and tons of fun! During the shoot I’ll give you a sneak peak of a few shots. At the end of the day, usually around 3:00 pm or so, we wrap things up and schedule a date about two weeks later for you to come in for your Photo Reveal and Ordering Session. This is when you see a slideshow of your photos to select and purchase the ones you love. Depending on what you purchase, it can take two to three weeks for your photos to be processed, received at the studio and prepared for you to pick up. This amounts to 5 weeks of time from the day of your shoot to you having your professional photos in your hands.
